2 TIMOTHY: LESSON 3


II. PAUL’S EXHORTATION: THERE IS REWARD FOR SUFFERING HARDSHIP (2:1-13)


A. As Paul’s child, receive strength in God’s grace and teach faithful men the things heard from Paul (v. 1-2).


B. As a good soldier, serve wholeheartedly to please the commander  (v. 3-4).

 

C. As an athlete, contend lawfully to be crowned (v. 5).


D. As a diligent farmer, partake firsts of fruit produced (v. 6).


E. By considering matters, the Lord will give understanding (v. 7).


F. Remember the message of the Gospel: the risen Christ (v. 8).


G. Paul suffers and endures for the elect’s sake – the Word is not bound (v. 9-10).


H. Faithful sayings: (v. 11-13)

 1. If we have died with Him – we shall live with Him.

 2. If we endure – we will reign with Him.

 3. If we deny Him – He will deny us.

 4. If we are faithless – He abides faithful- He cannot deny Himself.
