I. DANIEL AND HIS DETERMINATION TO BE PURE (1:1-
A. Daniel and the other royalty and nobles of Israel brought to be trained to stand in King Nebuchadnezzar’s palace (v. 1-

3. Mishael (who is what God is?) – given name Meshach (who is what the moon god is?)
4. Azariah (the Lord helps) – given name Abednego (servant of Nebo)
C. Daniel makes a purposeful decision (v. 8-
1. Sought not to defile himself with the king’s dainties.
2. Asks to be given “pulse” and “water” for ten days
3. After ten days, the prince over the eunuchs could compare the countenance of these men.
4. Prince of eunuchs sees how better Daniel and his friends have fared on pulse and water – takes away the dainties.
D. God blesses Daniel and his three friends with knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom (v. 14-
1. Four youths brought before Nebuchadnezzar
