DANIEL- LESSON TWO


I. NEBUCHADNEZZAR’S FIRST DREAM (Chapter 2)

A. Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and his demand for his wise men to reveal and interpret it (v. 1-6)

B. The wise men’s second plea to just interpret the dream and Nebuchadnezzar’s angry response to destroy all his wise men (v. 7-13)

C. Daniel’s appeal to Arioch and King Nebuchadnezzar (v. 14-16)

D. Daniel and his three friends pray to God for the revelation of the king’s dream (v. 17-24).

1. God responds to reveal dream to Daniel in a night vision.

2. Daniel responds with praise and thanksgiving unto God.

E. Daniel gives honor to God for empowering him with the revelation and interpretation of the king’s dream (v. 25-30).

F. Daniel reveals the king’s dream (v. 31-35).

1. One great and bright image in the form of a mighty human being

2. Four aspects of image pointed out:

a. Head of gold

b. Breast (chest) and arms of silver

c. Belly and thighs of brass

d. Legs of iron and feet of iron and clay

3. Stone cut out without hands smites image on feet – iron, clay, brass, silver and gold break in pieces together

4. Smiting stone becomes great mountain and fills the earth

G. Daniel’s interpretation of the dream (v. 36-45)

1. Head of gold – kingdom under Nebuchadnezzar

2. Other aspects of image point to three succeeding kingdoms.

3. In days of fourth kingdom, God will set up his kingdom that will stand forever.

H. King Nebuchadnezzar’s response (v. 46-49)

1. He gives honor to Daniel’s God.

2. He blesses Daniel and Daniel’s three friends.
