DEUTERONOMY – LESSON TEN

I. MOSES BLESSES HIS PEOPLE AND VIEWS THE PROMISED LAND BEFORE HIS DEATH (33:1-34:12)

A. Introduction to the blessings – God loves His people and has given them a glorious law (33:1-5)

B. Prophetic blessings on individual tribes (33:6-25)

1. Reuben – the tribe will live on, but be few (v. 6, Gen. 49:4).

2. Judah – brought to his people as a leader (v. 7).

3. Levi – giving God’s guidance as Israel’s priestly teachers (v. 8-11).

4. Benjamin – beloved and cared for by his father and by His God (v. 12).

5. Joseph – abundance of temporal blessing and Divine favor (v. 13-17).

6. Zebulun and Issachar – both blessed in going out in labor and dwelling at home (v. 18-19).

7. Gad – warlike character will be rewarded (v. 20-21).

8. Dan – will spring like a lion on his prey (v. 22).

9. Naphtali – blessed with fertile land (v. 23)

10. Asher – other sons would be blessed in him – abundance of oil (v. 24-25)

C. Conclusion of blessing exalting God as refuge and strength for His people (v. 26-29).

D. Death and burial of Moses (34:1-8)
